ALYAF Industrial Co. Ltd. P. O Box 10737 Dammam 31443 Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Phone : +966 3 812 1206 Fax : +966 3 812 1836 Email: [email protected] Web: www.alyaf.com ALYAF Industrial Company Ltd. is a Saudi Arabian company specialized in manufacturing nonwoven geotextiles and technical nonwovens. Established in 1992, ALYAF has pioneered the development of technical nonwovens in the Middle East by becoming the first company in the region to produce high performance technical nonwovens used as carrier/reinforcement of bituminous membrane, as well as polyester and polypropylene geotextiles, for the infrastructure and construction markets. The company’s products are manufactured, tested and supplied in accordance to stringent quality management systems certified by an external agency under ISO 9001 and quality assured to relevant ASTM and EN ISO standards. In 2005, ALYAF cemented its leading role in the Middle Eastern market by doubling its production capacity with the addition of a new production line to its arsenal. The company further increased its capacity and upgraded its range in 2008 by investing in state-of-the-art technologies for the exclusive production of geotextiles. ALYAF is a corporate member of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS). ALYAF recently joined forces with GEOfabrics Limited, a UK-based company specializing in the manufacture of geocomposites to create a range of products for a variety of civil and environmental engineering applications like landfills, gas venting systems, vertical and horizontal drainage, roof gardens, salt barriers and capillary break layers. “The landmark deal places both companies in an exciting position to expand successfully into new markets across the Middle East and become the premier choice for geocomposites in the region and beyond,” says Imad Eljack, technical director, ALYAF. “In addition, ALYAF is embarking on major expansion projects to expand its product portfolio to include GCL and woven geotextiles.” Since its establishment in 1992, Eljack says ALYAF has been maintained a leading position as the largest manufacturer of geotextiles in the Middle East and has added geogrids, geocomposites and GCL to its portfolio to offer customers a wide range of products from a single source. “ALYAF currently has a total capacity in excess of 12,000 tons per annum (TPA) and is considering adding its fourth line by 2015,” he says. ALYAF manufactures a wide range of high performance geotextiles engineered to suit various geotechnical applications including soil stabilization for roads and railways, subsurface drainage, crack relief paving fabrics for asphalt overlays, erosion control in marine constructions, protection of waterproof membranes and thermal insulation, protection of synthetic liners and drainage in landfills and waste containment systems, landscaping. “For over two decades, ALYAF has been a mainstay in the Middle Eastern market with a significant market presence in Asia, Africa and Europe,” says Eljack “A 100% Saudi-owned company, ALYAF’s prime focus has been to manufacture the best geosynthetics to the broad local market, along with an impetus to growing markets in Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. “The Saudi market and the Middle East in general is progressive in nature and is expected to grow by leaps and bounds, with a host of exciting megaprojects lined up ahead in the next five years,” says Eljack. “Besides partnering with GEOfabrics to create class-leading geocomposites, ALYAF is expanding operations extensively to tap into the vast potential the local and export markets have to offer. ALYAF is planning to increase its nonwovens capacity to more than 20,000 TPA by 2015. With dedicated teams of qualified professionals in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam, ALYAF is all set to grow from strength to strength in the global geosynthetics market.” Eljack says while the geosynthetics market is relatively stable and has shown steady growth in recent years the downturn in the GCC construction activities and inferior products at low prices pose challenges moving forward.
